Description understated

Great family vacation
It’s so nice to have a big enough space for the whole family! There were enough rooms for everyone with rooms to spare and multiple family areas, large dining room and kitchen and the best part was having an indoor pool and hot tub games room! Overall we absolutely loved our time and made great Christmas memories but the place could have been less cluttered with stuff, the hot tub room could have been cleaned up around the windows and the owner came in unexpected a few times and we felt a little uncomfortable about it, it should be communicated before hand in my opinion as guests we want our privacy. We appreciate having the chance to spend a couple of nights to be close with family at Christmas!

Hi Tara. Thankyou for your review; and thankyou for leaving the place in good shape. I am sorry for for not noticing the flies on the window sill in the hot tub room. That was definitely an oversight As per the description I come in once a day around mid-day to check on the pool chemistry and collect the garbage and recycling. I knocked on the door before entering and heard someone say ‘hello’, so then I came in. I will see if I can arrange a way to give more notice to guests in the future.

Fantastic getaway
We are a group of seniors who love to get together annually! This place had everything we could desire!!! Indoor pool, pool table, hot tub, lots of areas to gather and well equipped kitchen! Fantastic!

Spring Fling
We enjoyed our stay at this property. It was chosen because of the spaciousness of the house for our family. The pool and hot tub were an added bonus. Check in was easy and the owner was very approachable. Property was close to restaurants and shopping which was very nice. Would consider staying at this property again!

Great Space but Awkward
The place had tons of space but the owner was on site all weekend, even coming into our space several times per day for various reasons, one of which was to add meat to a freezer in a fridge we were using. It made several ladies in the group uncomfortable. Poor wasn’t working properly. Sauna not working at all. Owner was nice but we did not realize we would be sharing the home for our stay.

Excellent Hospitality
Our weekend getaway was truly unforgettable thanks to this amazing house. It provided a clean and spacious environment for our family to gather and celebrate a loved one’s 75th birthday. The indoor pool, hot tub and game area were a highlight of the trip, and the house was well-equipped with everything we needed. We were impressed with the top-notch amenities and look forward to returning in the future. Middleshire Suites Family Get-together
Our family holiday weekend was amazing at Middleshire Suites. John was so welcoming and helpful during our stay and really made us feel comfortable in his home. Our extended family enjoyed the space and were able to host our dinners (seating 18) in the beautifully decorated dining room. The family rooms were also all decked out for the holidays with ample seating and space to move around and play for the children. The kitchen is large enough to accommodate a large group for food prep with a big island, 2 fridges and 2 full stove/ranges. The indoor pool and spa was a plus, hours of family fun. Beds were plentiful and comfortable. Thanks for helping to make our celebration a success. 🙂

WONDERFUL
I was hoping there was a superlative for WONDERFUL We had a great time, the reception by the hosts, the cleanliness, the spaciousness, the communication, the amenities available to cater for all of us from the kitchen appliances and utensils plus cutlery and dishware. The many bedrooms and bathrooms all impeccable. The dinning room already set and ready for us when we arrived. Exactly What We Were Looking For
We were very impressed with our stay at Middelshire. It was exactly as advertised and checked every box for our wedding party getaway. It is spacious, luxurious and complete with incredible features (pool, hot tub, games room, etc.) that make it perfect for a large group.

Outstanding Accomodation for groups.
John and Adina are exceptional hosts. The home is large, yet makes you feel cozy and at home. Anything you need is available. The beds are comfortable and all rooms are inviting and clean. The pool and hot tub areas are perfect for a Canadian winter get away. We will be back.

Best Family Christmas Ever
We rented this place for a Christmas gathering. We have a very large family and always had difficulty finding a space where we can all get together comfortably. The house was amazing. We had such a great time. Having the indoor pool was extra special since we arrived during a snowstorm. The owner, John was great. He was always there to answer any questions we had. I highly recommend this place. We definitely plan to do it again.

Best experience
First off, the pictures of this property doesn’t do it justice! This place is super clean, spacious and had everything you can think of! The pool, hot tub, game room and our outside amenities was perfect for our 16 people group of all ages. The owners are super friendly and made check in and out extremely easy! Highly recommend this place for large groups! My only complaint is I didn’t book it for a longer stay!!!

50th Anniversary Celebration
Absolutely worth the visit. This Manor is clean and so well presented! You would have to be a “scrooge” to not be impressed and not to be excited to stay there. The owners are on property should you ever but not likely need help. We had a family and friends gathering to celebrate our 50th Anniversary. It was a wonderful experience with all attending being also very impressed with this amazing accommodation’s atmosphere. Great Birthday destination for our group of 13!
Exactly as advertised. A very nice Inn in an easily accessible location. Comfy beds, great facilities including the pool and spa, lots of lounging space that can be sealed off from the bedrooms should the celebrating become too loud. Well stocked kitchen with plenty of stove and refrigerator space(of particular benefit to large groups). John greeted us upon arrival and was able to accommodate our early arrival. All in all a very nice weekend getaway. We and/or other family members will be back.

Perfect for a family gathering

Nice relaxing COVID weekend
Family and friends all had a great time. Kids lived in the pool. Bedrooms are all spacious . Games room was very enjoyable. Kitchen was great to use. That time of year for a lot of flies and they seemed to have liked the Windows as we found a lot of dead ones there. But all in all, the house was clean and well kept.

Great Long Weekend getaway
A big break was required in these tough times and we were super lucky to have found this property for our big break. Group of 7 couples with kids in age group of 2-9 everyone had so much fun. House has so much to offer that for a moment you have to think what to do and what not to. John was amazing from the moment we arrived. Answered all our questions and fulfilled any request that we had. When a property get 50+ 5 stars then one should book it without any doubt in mind. Thank you for having us 🙏🙏. BEST COTTAGE EVER!!!
John was an amazing host. He was very thoughtful, responded quickly to anything that we needed. The house was amazing. It had lots of activities to do in the house like swimming, volleyball, video games, etc. The house was very clean and organized. Rooms were fantastic and definitely gave the Lord of the Rings vibe. Kitchen was fully equipped. It was an amazing experience overall. Definitely would recommend it.

Fantastic place for a large family gathering
Our big family (8 adults, 4 teens, a toddler and an infant) had an awesome long weekend at Middelshire B&B. With the games room and the indoor pool, the kids were never bored, the kitchen and dining table were large enough for all of us at once, and there were more beds than people (even a toddler bed set up that my 2-yr-old loved)! Everyone was entertained by the fantasy decor and raved about the place. Can’t comment on the neighbourhood as we didn’t leave the house the whole weekend. Owners were away when we rented but left us in good hands and with thorough instructions and thoughtful provisions. I’m sure we’ll rent again!! Thank you, John and Adina!

Family Gathering
We have a large family (youngest 1 year old and oldest 90) and the B&B easily accommodated us. The kids loved exploring the games room and enjoying the pool. Adults enjoyed the various rooms to relax. We stayed just before Christmas and the Christmas decorations were great.

Wonderful family spot
We were a group of 14, ages 5 to 79. There was lots to do at Middleshire for all of us. The property itself was clean, roomy, and beautifully and delightfully furnished. The indoor pool and hot tub, were a big hit with both children and adults; the game room also supplied many hours of fun. The kitchen had everything we needed and more to make ourselves nice meals. And our hosts were wonderful: they put us at ease immediately, patiently helped us get oriented, and even gave us some fresh eggs and vegetables during our stay. Even though we could have happily spent all our week just at Middleshire, we did explore the surrounding country a bit. The charming, friendly town of Merrickville is nearby and everyone was interested in the Rideau Canal and locks there, as well as the gift shops and ice cream and locally sourced food. Smiths Falls is quite convenient for shopping and museums, too. We even found a public tennis court a very short walk from Middleshire. Great home with lots to do!

Wonderful location for our family reunion
We had a little family reunion weekend getaway. In total, we were 13 adults and 8 kids. We used virtually every amenity the property had to offer, except the TV and various gaming consoles, only because we were too busy. Between the pool/sauna/jacuzzi, dart/billiard/hockey tables, smores on the fire pit, bbq’ing all afternoon and soccer in the yard, it was all we could ask for. A great property that I would highly recommend.

Middelshire
We were a group of 11 from 15 to 70 and had a wonderful time here. The rooms are large and comfortable. The games room saw competitions and lots of laughter. The kitchen is well appointed with pretty much everything you might want. The front veranda is a great place for a quiet hangout with a restful view. The pool is a real pool with room for lengths and play. We could dine all at one table which was delightful. While there is not much to do in the actual neighborhood, it is within easy reach of Ottawa, the Rideau Canal, charming local towns, the St. Lawrence Seaway, Upper Canada Village and more. We watched a movie in Brockville. Nothing is more than an hour away. This is a great place for gatherings and pleasant hours of celebration. Much to be recommended. No downside – unless your taste is not quirky furnishings and decorations including a Lord of the Rings chess set and a giraffe stained glass window!!! If you go, hope you have as much fun as we did.

It was the best Christmas in a long time. Having 26 of our family in one house. Amazing! The grand-children and adults enjoyed the pool, hotub sauna and gamesroom. See you for Christmas in 2020. Amazing!
We were there with a group of 13 guys. We had ample space for everything. We hung out on the balcony with a fireplace table and smoked cigars, the large back room is perfect for sitting around late nights and playing guitar, everyone had a bed to themselves, and the pool table was a big hit. Loads of space, and simply a beautiful spot.

I had my best stay ever in B&B middelshire. It is a perfect option for large groups of people. The owner is very friendly and welcome. You can have everything like in door heated pool, hot tube, sauna, pool table. I will definitely go there again.

Impressive in every way!
We were a group of 13 and we also did a murder mystery. The exceptional and friendly service started long before we arrived. The owners John and Adina were very patient with my many questions and multiple changes to our large groups needs. The home is large and beautifully decorated. The massive indoor pool and hot tub was just what the doctor ordered during a bitterly cold week-end in January. The owners were always smiling and genuinely wanted to make us all happy, and that is exactly what happened. The group is already planning ur next visit and we can’t wait!

Spacious
We plan an annual girl’s weekend every year. As we are a large group of 10-12, our main criteria is enough space. We’ve been using VRBO for a few years now. This year Middelshire caught my eye. The house and it’s amenities did not disappoint. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub as well as the games room. The owner’s were very friendly and welcoming. John was quick to offer his knowledge and assistance in any way we needed. We loved it so much we have already re-booked for next year.

Great place for a large gathering
This place was a great place to stay for a family gathering. Plenty of space with lots of bedrooms and bathrooms. The indoor pool was amazing and well maintained. We will definitely be going back in future years.

Middelshire is a beautiful place – so comfortable and relaxing.
There were 6 of us there for 3 nights – we all thought it was a great spot – everything was taken care of – beds very comfortable. We also thought the hosts, John and Adina, were so welcoming and friendly and ready to assist when needed. Enjoyed the breakfast each day as well – very nutritious. Overall, a wonderful stay.

Awesome Place to Stay!

There is enough space to enjoy your solitude (suites, living area, deck, porch) or enjoy group activities (pool, games room, large kitchen, volleyball or badminton in the yard). There is something for everyone for parents, teenagers, toddlers, etc. Wifi is better in the ground floor. We even had a movie night. Picturesque town of merrickville is just a short drive away. Smiths falls is just 15 minutes for the bigger stores (walmart, lcbo, dollarama, canadian tire).

We truly enjoyed our stay at this facility! Plenty of room for our family. The dining room was large enough for all 19 of us and one of the sitting rooms worked well for us to gather in the evening and share with our five children and their children. throughout the day we could spread out and enjoy one another in smaller informal groups. The value for the cost was the best of any place we’ve experienced.

Beautiful, spacious and modern

Amazing!
I booked the B&B for my family on the weekend I got married, since they all lived 4-6 hours away from Merrickville. I had stayed there before, but my family hadn’t. Everyone was amazed by it. From the attention to detail in the décor to the home like atmosphere. Every enjoyed the pool and hot tub and the kids loved the games room (kept them occupied!). My mom suggested having another family weekend there next year! There is so much to see in the area, we couldn’t see everything we wanted to. You can’t beat the price either. The hosts, John and Adina are amazing and helped everyone feel right at home.

Awesome!
We stayed at this great B n B with 4 couples in July for 7 nights. It was amazing. What a treat to all have our own bathrooms! The place is huge and comes with an indoor heated pool, sauna and hot tub. It has a great porch to enjoy your morning coffee. It is close to Westport, Perth, Brockville, Smith Falls, and less than one hour to Ottawa. Our breakfasts were superb! John and Adina were awesome hosts. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone travelling to this area.

It was great having your group here. I enjoyed hearing the rumble of your classic cars when you prepared to go on your daily adventure each day, and also enjoyed each evening learning about what you all got up to during the day. Fabulous B & B!
Beautiful facility! Lots of space for everyone. Absolutely gorgeous kitchen with huge centre island for gathering. tOwners thought of everything to make our stay incredible. Lots of spacious bedrooms with either private or shared washrooms. Virtually sound proof rooms. Beds extremely comfortable and very nicely decorated. Indoor pool a huge hit with the kids as was the games room with pool table and rod hockey. It was a great place for our family gathering. You can’t ask for a better place to stay!

Absolutely the best!
Our family of 18 (10 adults, 8 children) stayed in this lovely home last summer and I am just now finally writing our review. The home was beautiful, clean, comfortable, and spacious. There were plenty of beds and privacy for all. The pool was fantastic and enjoyed by young and old alike. The area was beautiful with plenty of activities available within a very short drive. John and Adina were tremendously helpful, friendly, and very kind, especially helping us out after we lost the keys to one of our cars during a day of canoeing (two of the nicest people we’ve ever encountered). Our large family has traveled somewhere every summer for the last 7 years. EVERYONE agrees that Middelshire was their favorite! When we stop roving and begin to repeat locations, this will be our first to repeat.

Large Group Perfection
We were looking for a place that would offer enough space for our large family of 15 to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We found it at Middelshire! Lots of room for everyone plus plenty of activities for all ages from the indoor pool to the games room. John and Adina were perfect hosts always available to answer any questions we had. Some of our group even ventured to a great outdoor rink in Merrickville which is only a short drive away. We would highly recommend Middelshire to our family and friends.

A Fantastic House with Fantastic Owners
Where to begin? Based on the other reviews, we expected to have a great experience — John and Adina (the homeowners) somehow exceeded our high expectations. Our group was made up of four adults and seven kids and the house had plenty of space for all of us (a number of the bedrooms went unused). John and Adina managed to maintain the perfect balance of being accessible and friendly while at the same time providing us with our own space and privacy. The game room, the pool and all of the other amenities were great (and even better than they appear in the pictures). The house was clean and welcoming, and the farm (across the street) and the frogs that live in the small frog pond were an added bonus for the animal lovers in our group. All in all, a great experience from start to finish. John and Adina, thanks again for opening your home to us and for being such welcoming and wonderful hosts.

Wonderful Property, fantastic owners!
We came for my grandma’s surprise 90th birthday and since we are such a large group we thought it might be fun to all stay together; we were fortunate to have the entire B&B to ourselves (5 sisters + spouses & kids) – we had such a fantastic time; it’s very rare that we all are able to get together in one place, we never felt crowded and many meals were made with the entire family gathered around in the kitchen. We Came As Guests and Left As Friends
Dear John & Adina, The weekend April 22 – 25, 2016 we spent at your B & B for our family reunion, 14 in all , met all of our expectations and more. From the Suites to the games room, heated swiming pool, hot tub, sauna etc we couldn’t ask for more. The family dinner you catered for us was greatly appreciated and enjoyed. Your suites and lounge areas were clean and well furnished and comfortable. When we plan another get together your B & B will be first on the list, the location great, close to Merickville ON. and the Rideau Canal. Amazing stay in an incredible BnB
I booked the Middelshire for the weekend for my moms 60th birthday and had the most amazing, memorable experience. Every single one of us enjoyed our stay, especially the pool and the hot tub. The kitchen was spacious and fully stocked, the patio was relaxing and the rooms were all so comfortable and well decorated. Not a single disappointing thing to say. The Middelshire is absolutely perfect and I would love to come back again! Thanks so much!

Great family stay
My family and I enjoyed our 3 day 2 night stay. Definitely was worth it for all 17 of us as it was only 3 and half hours away from Toronto. (Google will say the location is in Eglin and it is not! ) The pictures online of the place definitely do not do justice on how big and unique the place is. It was well decorated and yet felt so homey. We went for my father’s 70th bday and gained memories for a lifetime. The kids loved the pool- was great as they had life jackets and noodles for those who needed it. The aunts and uncles enjoyed the jacuzzi which was nice and relaxing. All the rooms were nicely heated and the kitchen was big enough to cook two meals at the same time. John and his family were great (they do live in the basement) however you will not even notice them there. The perk of them living just below allowed us to ask quick questions when necessary. Great stay! Definitely will considering coming again!

Weekend Group Stay Great Value Wonderful Hosts
We just completed a group reunion at John and Adina’s place and everyone was thoroughly impressed. The facilities offered something for everyone from the pool (at 83 degrees) to the hot tub and infrared sauna. There were numerous seating areas so one could have some quiet time if so desired. If not, the games room had a pool table, hockey table, darts and numerous games and toys available. There were 10 of us (no spouses) and each person had their own bed. The beds were also very comfortable. The best thing I can say about this place were the hosts who were truly welcoming and enjoyable to deal with. Some members of our group are already planning to stage another reunion here. It is perfect for groups who want to spend a weekend together but still wish to have some privacy. I highly recommend staying here you will not be disappointed.

Relaxing stay with extended family
We just returned from an amazing stay at MiddelShire B&B, there were 18 of us ranging from 5-72 years old and there was something for everyone. John and Adina were great hosts to their beautiful and massive property. Kids (5-15) had a great time in the indoor pool, Jacuzzi, games room complete with a pool table, hockey table, darts and much more. John even taught us how to play Croquet for the first time and surprisingly enough, the kids played it many times during our stay. The kids also enjoyed the fishing at Smith Falls, it is only 10 mins away. The adults also enjoyed the numerous large sitting areas (away from the kids 🙂 Each night, John setup a bonfire, it was a nice way to start the evening. We also made use of the projector and watched movies on the large screen. Our entire family had a great time and would highly recommend MiddelShire B&B to anyone who is looking for high value and quality!

Amazing property, amazing hosts and amazing value!
A mid-sized group (13) of us got together recently to celebrate a 15th High School reunion and we couldn’t have been more pleased with our choice. The property boasts enormous (great for families travelling with children) and numerous (great for selecting geographic proximity to babies 😉 room choices. The kitchen was perfect for whipping up a monster breakfast (multiple stovetops, plus an electric fryer for pancakes, etc.) and the dual bbq’s outside were an unexpected bonus. The other features of the house were extensive and exhaustive (indoor pool, hot tub, sauna with speaker system, billiards/darts room, great hall for large dining parties, multiple large seating areas great for board games, etc.). The list goes on. Lawn games provided additional entertainment and having John setup bonfires for us each night just as the sun was going down was just perfect! We can’t wait to be back, the group is already considering foregoing the 15 year wait it took for us to have our first reunion! No hesitation in recommending this property to anyone, my wife and I have traveled almost exclusively on VRBO/Homeaway rentals (Hawaii, Costa Rica, Turks and Caicos, Mexico, California, etc.) and can confidently say the combination of value and quality of this rental has very few peers.

An absolutely wonderful family bonding week in a grand modern house
We were a mixed group of 22 friends – babies, teenagers, young adults, mid-lifers. This house had enough activities to keep everyone happy and entertained. They had a good size pool, hot tub, and sauna which were heavily used in our stay. The billiards table & volleyball net were also favorites. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you could possibly need to make big family dinners and the owners were kind enough to provide us with any supplies which we may have forgotten to pack. The last thing to complement this house are the owners. They went above and beyond to make sure we felt at home and that we had everything we needed to ensure our stay was most comfortable and enjoyable. John & Adina gave us many ideas of activities to do in the area if we wanted to go out on an adventure. If you are looking for a family bonding experience, then this house will easily suit your needs. 5 star rating! Time to book for next year again. Thanks John & Adina!

Great Family Cottage
This cottage was simply perfect. It was much more than I had expected. The cottage boasts a ton of rooms for a LARGE group and has a number of things to do with its indoor swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, games room and so much more. My family and I loved this cottage so much that we are planning to make this our family reunion cottage every year! The hosts are also amazing, and really do make you feel at home. This cottage and the owners are the best. Give this cottage a PERFECT rating!
